The Singapore Maritime Week is an annual gathering of the international maritime community to discuss the advancement of industry issues and exchange forward-thinking ideas.

The weeklong event is organized by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore in collaboration with industry stakeholders and research educational institutions and is managed by Informa Markets, an event partner of Swapcard.

The theme for the 16th Annual Singapore Maritime Week was Transformation for Growth and it took place on April 4 - 8, 2022 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. Organized primarily as an in-person event, it included the hybrid option for attendees to join virtually from all over the world.

Our designated APAC team supported Informa Markets by ensuring they used all the features of Swapcard's platform.

Swapcard was chosen as the event technology partner based on the integrated capabilities of its registration platform through Avolio. In that way, the platform could seamlessly deliver digital conference and exhibition content to their global audience. Swapcard's AI-powered networking opportunities also increased engagement rates during and after the week-long event.

Informa Markets made the most of Swapcard’s all-in-one registration features to fully automate the entire process. This included sending out reminders to attendees and customizing fields.

The organizers chose a hybrid event model for 2022 due to the compromised COVID-19 travel restrictions that remained in place back in April. By expanding the registration to include a virtual audience, the team welcomed a strong international presence for the exchange of key industry issues and ideas. The event organizers also engaged the audience creatively by integrating a trivia quiz into the platform.


All the sessions were live streamed via Swapcard so anyone, anywhere, could tune in to watch the presentations. Four weeks after the event concluded, the platform continued to offer attendees on-demand content to watch at their leisure and even continue networking with key opinion and industry leaders, researchers, and other stakeholders.

Those who attended Singapore Maritime Week enjoyed an interactive event experience during the week, knowing they could revisit content and continue networking for another month post-event. Singapore Maritime Week fully capitalized on the features available from Swapcard, providing unique engagement opportunities to those who joined in-person or virtually, with both audience types responding positively to the event.
